Were old-fashioned parents better?
"It would be safe to say," a

Don't confuse Ervin Johnson
with Earvin Johnson.
The lat!er is ''Magic" Johnson,
the former NBA star who led
Michigan SUite 10 a national title in
his collegiate days.
The former is just plain old
Ervin, a 6-foot·l1 center for No. 25
New Orleans who's shaping up as a
possible NBA draft pick.
Johnson had 23 rebounds, 21
points, lluec steals, two assists and
two blocks as the Privateers (17-2,

Conference game at Edinburg,
Texas.
'"We'n:. glad to get him out of
our hair and on his way," TexasPan American coach Mark Adams
said. "He was the difference in lhe
game. Every. time we got close,
he'd hit a shot, grab a rebound or
block a shol."

A. Yes, INSTITUTE may be used
when it's the right term. The Smith·
sonian prefers the older INSTITU·
TION as part of its title, but other
organizations choose to use the short·
er noun. Be sure to check with any organizalion if you're unsure about the
right name, whether you 're writing .
about lhe Smithsonian Institution or
the National Institute
