All you guys and dolls who appreciate what the baseball

Little Leag4e and Pony League (12-15) ball s hould be

the program is to continue.
Meeting time : 7 :30p.m .
Presiding: PHS Coach Dick Retton . Little League officers
assisting: Lloyd (Dinty} Moore as veep and Tracy Whaley as
minute taker .
Make it if you can. Kids, if the old man says, "Aw, let
somebody else do it this time," you tell 'im: " Pop , what's
draggin' on ya. Come on . I wann!l play ball ."
And there'll be some ladies need, too .
There are $600 needed to get the Pony League of four
teams set up in uniforms and equipment to get s tarted . More
Will be needed to make up for balls lost, bats broken and torn

All you guys and dolls who appreciate what the baseball
program here means in the lives of the youngsters
·
Little Leag4e and Pony League (12-15) ball s hould be
for the kick-olf meeting Tuesday night in the Pomeroy Senio,r
High auditorjum that will determine actually whether or
the program is to continue.
More
Will be needed to make up for balls lost, bats broken and torn
suits. Liability insurance is a· must. It comes out of the firt~t
several bucks kicked in by the good hearted .

was so no y suppor ·

That's little league money, not pony league . The officers hope
to match that $600 with another, then u~ the $1200 as a· cOm·
mon treasury to operate both leagues . Whatever amount ovet
$600 is obtained in the drive soon to start of course will
that much insurance of a soundly financed program .
Parents from Racine a·nd Syracuse and Minersville shOuld
be on hand Tpesday night. Their communities are in this deal
too. Their boys are in the leagues concerned.
Sports Desk had news today from · Harold M. Cooper, genera! manager of the Columbus Jets Baseball team . While Tracy Wha-ley is busy rounding up strong outside independent
teams to play OVA AU-Stars here in a June series on the Wahama field at night, this writer figured it wouldn't hurt to
find out if the Jets "B" squad might journey here for a game
With our boys. Here is that part ol Mr. Cooper's letter ol publie interest:
" Jn reply to your letter of April 24th I am sorry it will be
impossible for our club tu play your All-Stars tltJs season
We ha·v e few off days remaining in our league schedule and
those that we do have are travel dates between

Mr . Cooper's Letter goes jn our file ffiilrkcd Nov. 1, 1958, in
plenty of time to forewarn him we want consideration in
year's available Jet open dates.
