bet>n the Ohio State Fair.
Tbis vear, the statewide e~positlon has
grown to mammoth proportiQDi and rates

It promiles to be a gigantic showcase of
blue ribbon exhibits and events during
all of its Jl exciting , colorful days. The
llOth State Fair will open with "Youth
Day" on Friday. August 23, and clOSe af·
ter an appropriate "Salute to Industry"
on Labor Day, September 2.

In between these two dates, the best
that Ohio has to offer from every field
of endeavor will be on parade for all to
see and admire.
A recent count of entries for exhibits,
.Judgings, races and special events indl·
cate that this year's exposition wHl easily be the largest In Ohio's proud State

Ohio will be prominently displayed at a

The bumper crop of entries will enable this year's fairgoers to enjoy a wide·

The 1963 admission price to enter the

the first fair 114 years ago Back in 1850,
folks were charged 20 cents for admission, only 75 cents this year. When one

Biggest Barga in Anywhere
t'or 110 years, the greatest sin£le an·
nual event of interest to every Ohioan
in eve:y corner of the Buckeye State bas
bet>n the Ohio State Fair.
Tbis vear, the statewide e~positlon has
grown to mammoth proportiQDi and rates
r~gnition as the "best m the Midwest".
It promiles to be a gigantic showcase of
blue ribbon exhibits and events during
all of its Jl exciting , colorful days. The
llOth State Fair will open with "Youth
Day" on Friday. August 23, and clOSe af·
ter an appropriate "Salute to Industry"
on Labor Day, September 2.
·
In between these two dates, the best
that Ohio has to offer from every field
of endeavor will be on parade for all to
see and admire.
A recent count of entries for exhibits,
.Judgings, races and special events indl·
cate that this year's exposition wHl easily be the largest In Ohio's proud State
Fair history . Practically everything that
i! grown, raised, made or practiced in
Ohio will be prominently displayed at a
dP.Bnf>r. more sanitary. more colorful
Ohio Expositions Center.
The bumper crop of entries will enable this year's fairgoers to enjoy a wide·
angle view of the best Ohio has to offer
in the fields of agriculture. horticulture,
Hvestock, dairy production. poultry.

hl~hUghts the expansive uowth and development of our great Buckeye State
during the ~ast 114 years- there were
no State Fairs scheduled during four of
the World War II yean.
in 18SO, approltimatey 25,000 persona
attended the first fair at Camp Washing·
ton near Cincinnati, whereas well over
one-half million follui are expected to
pass through the gates on East Eleventh
and East Seventeenth Avenues to see this
year's exposition In Columbus.
The 1963 admission price to enter the
exposition grounds is actually consider·
ably reduced from that charged to see
the first fair 114 years ago Back in 1850,
folks were charged 20 cents for admission, only 75 cents this year. When one
stops to consider the purchasing power
of "n I B50 dollar versus the 1963 dollar,
it is readily obvious that a visit to t h e
1963 Ohio State Fair is the "greatest bar·
gain anywhere in the country today."
The first State Fair was a 3·day affair,
October 2-4, gradually extending its show
dates over the years to the present 11·
day staging, August 23 · September 2.
Whereas the first fair was primarily
an exhibit of Ohio's agricultural interests and farm products, this year's State
Fair will offer elaborate displays and ex·

keeping pace with Ohio's growth proyuuth activities and many, many others. grf'ss and rise in stature on the National
