            <text>Mary Janice "Jan" Lavender, of Syracuse, Ohio passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023.   She was born on December 21, 1941 in Waynesburg, Ohio to the late Glenn and Rachel (McKinney) Cundiff.    Mary Janice was a member of the Syracuse Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years, she was a retired minister and a song evangelist for over 30 yrs.   She always wanted everyone to go to church on Sunday's.   Her favorite bible scripture is Psalm 91 and she would encourage you to read it.  &#13;

   She is survived by her children, Becki (David) Mayse, Doug (Theresa) Lavender; grandchildren, Dylan and Braden Matson, Lauren (Troy) Crum and Colton Lavender; brother, Sherm (Mickey) Cundiff of Florida ,several nieces and nephews and special friends, Marshall Jarrell, Jeremy Nelson and Cliff Zent. &#13;

   She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ralph Lavender; brothers, Bud Cundiff, Jim Cundiff and Will Cundiff; grandchildren Stuart and Jaden Matson &#13;
&#13;
   Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 1:00pm at he Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy with Pastor Ray LaSalle officiating,   Burial will follow at the Meigs Memory Gardens.  Visitation for family and friends will be held two hours prior to the funeral service (11-1pm).   &#13;

   In lieu of flowers Jan would like for everyone to go to church on Sunday in her memory or donations may be made to the Syracuse Mission or the New Hope Nazarene Church in Middleport.    </text>
