Dorothy James of New Haven, WV passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2025 at the Cedar Ridge Nursing Home in Sissonville, WV. She was born on June 1, 1931 in Hartford, WV to the late William Thurl and Jennie (Batey) Stone. Mrs James retired from the Pt. Pleasant Jr. High as head cook after 25 years of service. She was a member of the New Haven United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She love to bowl. She was a member of a WV State Championship bowling team. She was a founding member and EMT of the New Haven Rescue Team. She enjoyed cooking, puzzles, walking, crafts and mowing grass. Her favorite hobby was gardening. She loved to grow rose and had many rose gardens over the years.
She is survived by her son, William C. James; daughter Jennie J. (Nate) Kahn; grandchildren, Christi L. (Brian) Brown, Michael C. Kirsten James, April M. (Jonathan) Eddy, Mathew J. (Liv) Kahn; great grandchildren, Ashlynn, Elizabeth, Mathias and Caynaan and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her Parents; her husband George Barr James; sister Jane Ann Johnson
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 12:30pm with Rev. John Campbell officiating at the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy. Burial will follow in the Graham Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11am till the time of service.
