Text

It is with hearts full of love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Kelly Renee Gheen, age 53, of Racine, Ohio, who left this world on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Born in Logan, Ohio, Kelly was the beloved daughter of Joan (Danko) Palmer and the late Mark Hickman. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Keith Palmer. A graduate of Nelsonville-York High School and Hocking College, Kelly dedicated over two decades of her life working at Camden Clark Hospital as a Nursing Education Office Facilitator and as a Secretary to the Director of the ER.

Kelly was the heart and soul of her family, a devoted wife to Scot Gheen and a loving mother to her two sons, Brennen Scot Gheen and Cayden Andrew Gheen. She was a person of strong conviction, belief, and fortitude. Her love knew no bounds, and she poured her heart into every moment spent with those she cherished, especially her boys, as they meant the world to her. She also leaves behind her mother, Joan Palmer of Athens, Ohio, sisters, Jessica Allen of Braxton, Mississippi and Devan Palmer of Gretna, Louisiana, and a devoted longtime friend, Deana McKinley, who was like a sister to her. In addition, she was blessed with many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and extended family who will forever hold her memory close.

Kelly had a passion for being with her family. The beach was her sanctuary, where she always felt at peace, with the sound of the waves and the warmth of the sun surrounding her. Kelly liked kayaking with her friends and family as well. She also enjoyed relaxing in her glider chair, sipping coffee on the deck in the early mornings, surrounded by nature. These moments of stillness were where she felt most connected to the world around her. She attended Northbend Church and always embraced life with a strong faith, radiant spirit, kind heart, determined attitude, and an unwavering love for those around her.

Though Kelly’s time with us was far too short, the love she gave, the kindness she showed, the positivity she displayed, and the joy she brought to those around her, will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. We will always love you infinity! Per her wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests any donations be made to The American Cancer Society, if desired, in her memory.
