Sheriff’s Office reports multiple arrests
Staff Report

mdsnews@mydailysentinel.com

MEIGS COUNTY — The
Meigs County Sheriff’s Office made several arrests in
recent days.
Charles Ransom, Dillon
Parsley Jr., Danny Morgan,
Thomas A. Allen and Jesse
Partlow were arrested earlier this week according to
Meigs County Sheriff Robert Beegle.
Ransom, 32, of Syracuse
was charged with domestic

violence. He is currently
being held on $5,000 bond
with 10 percent permitted.
Allen, 25, of Syracuse
was arrested on a charge of
grand theft. The charge results from the theft of copper from the Shelly Company Sand Plant in Letart.
Allen is also charged with
breaking and entering of
the buildings at the plant.
According to Beegle,
charges are pending against
other individuals implicated in the case.

Allen is also being held on
a probation violation from
Meigs County Common
Pleas Court. According to
court records, the original
charges in common pleas
court were possession and
trafficking.
Partlow, 23, of Langsville, was arrested on a
2011 indictment from
Meigs County Common
Pleas Court. The indictment charged one count of
aggravated possession of
drugs and one count of ille-

gal assembly of possession
of drugs for manufacturing.
Partlow appeared in
Common Pleas Court and
entered a not guilty plea.
He was released on his
own recognizance pending
further court hearings.
Parsley, 19, of Pomeroy
is being held on an assault
charge.
Morgan, 27, of Albany is
being held on an Order to
Hold from the State Probation Officer.
The Sheriff’s Office is

also investigating two cases of theft in the eastern
part of the county.
On Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office received a report that a hunting cabin
on a property near Forked
Run Lake had been entered and a couple of tool
boxes were taken. It was
noticed later that tracks
in the grass indicated that
someone had come back
onto the property and stolen scrap metal and old
sheet tin. The property is

owned by Donald McKee
of Groveport.
It was reported earlier
this week by William Putnam, of Marietta, that he
had a service rig on the
Shade River Forest land
and someone had stolen
six batteries and a radiator
from it.
The investigation into
both cases is continuing.
Anyone with information is
asked to contact the Meigs
County Sheriff’s Office.

MIDDLEPORT — A new storage building is under construction at the corner of
Park and Page Streets in Middleport to
house several pieces of specialized equipment to be used for cleaning and maintaining the new sewer lines which have been
installed in the village.
The cost for the construction of the new
building and the equipment is a part of the
original $7.5 million sewer project funded with grant money and forgiven loans
awarded to the village.
The 30x46 foot building being constructed by the general contractor on the
sewer line project is expected to be completed within the next few weeks.
Equipment which has already arrived
includes a large leaf sweeper truck for use
in cleaning out areas filled with debris and
reaching into places where brushes can’t
go, according to Faymon Roberts, village
solicitor. He added that the goal is to keep
leaves and other debris from getting into
and clogging up the sewer lines and obSee MIDDLEPORT |‌ 3

She can’t live with his menagerie
Dear Dr. Brothers: My
boyfriend and I met through
a dog-rescue group, and we
really hit it off. He asked me
to move in with him and his
two dogs, so I brought my
dog and everything was cool.
Then he started bringing
home more dogs to foster
until they can be adopted. As
of a month ago, we have had
seven dogs in some stage of
coming or going, in addition
to our three. My guy is very
happy that there are now two
of us to do all the work. But I
am freaking out. What should
I do? — F.J.
Dear F.J.: You are a very
tolerant soul to live with all
those pooches and care for
them until they are adopted.
Many people wouldn’t have
the emotional strength to
get through this process that
you and your boyfriend do,
much less the willingness to
put in all that work and then
say goodbye to their dog pals.
Just do as much as you can;
there’s no reason to feel guilty
if you can’t handle it anymore.
It does seem as though you
and your boyfriend are not
quite on the same page when
it comes to the rescue work.

God intends to absolutely preserve Israel
There are several moral
and political positions that
disappointment me about
the Obama Administration,
but a key matter has to do
with the apparent mindset and outward attitude
toward the nation, Israel.
Recently on TV, our President dismissed Israel as
nothing more than “some
noise out there.” At a time
when even verbal support
for Israel from the leader of
the world’s most powerful
nation is needed it was not
given on a critical matter involving the delicate balance
of power in the Middle East.
It has been proven in the
past and is proven daily that
most of the world would
prefer that Israel be wiped
off the map as a nation. But,
such preference should not
be true coming from the people of the Church. If there
is any group of people that

should be supportive of the
nation Israel it is the people
of the Church. Any study of
the Word of God should lead
all affiliated with the Church
to be on God’s side concerning the nation of Israel.
God through Jeremiah
affirmed, “Thus says the
Lord, which gives the sun
for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of
the stars for a light by night,
which divides the sea when
the waves thereof roar (the
Lord of Hosts is His name);
if those ordinances depart
from before me, says the
Lord, then the seed of Israel
also shall cease from being a
nation before me forever.”
In other words, the nation of Israel will utterly be
destroyed if someone can
knock out the sun, shoot
down the moon, and black
out all the stars of the universe. Know anybody who

can do that?

It is popular in some circles to claim that
you cannot know anything, or, as one wag
put it, “The only thing we can be certain of is
that we cannot be certain of anything.” Relatedly, some define faith as: “Being certain of
things our common sense tells us can’t be so.”
While our senses may indeed sometimes be
deceived, and while it is possible to believe in
things that aren’t so, neither of these ideas are
in harmony with what the Bible teaches; indeed the Bible flatly disagrees with both.
John said that he wrote his gospel so that
his readers might believe that Jesus is the
Christ, the Son of God (cf. John 20:30-31). To
prove this point, the gospel of John contains
several proof’s concerning the identity of Jesus, including eye-witness testimony of turning water to wine, healing the sick, feeding
the five thousand, raising the dead and, not
least, the resurrection of Jesus himself from
the dead. If faith meant believing in things
apart from evidence, then one must wonder why John bothered including so much
evidence in his gospel. Nor is John alone in
this, Matthew, Mark and Luke offer proofs as
well, not only the proof of the miracles, but
the proof of fulfilled prophecy. Luke begins his
gospel by saying, “it seemed good to me also,
having had perfect understanding of all things
from the very first, to write to you an orderly
account, most excellent Theophilus, that you
may know the certainty of those things in
which you were instructed.” (Luke 1:3-4)
John also writes in his first epistle, saying,
“These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you
may know that you have eternal life, and that
you may continue to believe in the name of
the Son of God.” (1 John 5:13) John harbored
no doubts as to the validity of his faith, nor did
he think his readers should have any either. In
this, he was merely assenting to what Jesus

had already taught, “If you abide in My word,
you are My disciples indeed. And you shall
know the truth, and the truth shall make you
free.” (John 8:31b-32) The promise of Christ
is that through the words of Christ, we can
have a firm grasp of the truth.
Skeptics would argue, “well of course
he would say that, but how do we know it’s
true?” The challenge of Jesus is to put His
words to the test, abide in them, live them,
and obey them. The testimony of those who
were there was that Jesus offered many proofs
of what He said. The testimony of the multitudes who have since obeyed the gospel is
that, when applied, it truly works.
This ability to know the truth is a source
of great assurance and mental security to
those who have heeded what God has to say
to us, through His Son and His gospel. Men
with no certainty are men without true hope.
Men who trust in things they know are not so
are foolish and deluded. None of this is true
of the one who has learned God’s word and
taken it to heart. We can be certain of God,
of His word, and of His Son. We do not have
to approach the end of life with trepidation.
Rather, if we are in Christ, we can say like
Paul, “I know whom I have believed and am
persuaded that He is able to keep what I have
committed to Him until that Day.” (2 Timothy 1:12)
As we peruse the Bible, one thing becomes
clear: God always keeps His word. When He
promises wrath, unless there is repentance,
wrath is delivered. When He promises salvation, so long as men follow His word, there
is salvation. We can have certainty in the
promises of God. When the storms of life
arise, those who have placed their trust in
God have an anchor, sure and steadfast, entering and rooted in the life that is to come, so
that they need never fear (cf. Hebrews 6:1619). It is hoped that each man will give God
a chance to teach Him the things that are true
and noble, so that each man can live a life of
confidence, secure in the blessed assurances
of their loving Creator.
If you are interested in studying the Bible,
we would be happy to help you in this endeavor at the church of Christ, 197 Chapel Drive,
Gallipolis.

Your Words can be powerful
Last week we dealt with the
topic of taming the tongue, and
its powerful ability to influence
our lives as well as in others.
Can I tell you that your words
are powerful! Your words dictate
much. By your words you reveal
who you are and by your words
you dictate where you’re headed.
Words are powerful!
Proverbs 18:21, a famous
scripture that states: “Death
and Life are in the power of the
tongue.” This is one sobering
scripture in light of the Word of
God and in light of how we conduct our mouths.
“How can the tongue provide
death and life,” you might wonder? Well, let’s take a basic look.
First, with our tongue we direct.
James3:3 relates this subject by
using a horses bit and its powerful ability to control it. A word
can direct a person into the
wrong path, into a life of destruction. Or a word can lift someone
out of the pit. The horse with
the bit needs someone to guide
it.
Second, the tongue has the
power to destroy. James 3:5,6
reminds us that “the tongue is
the little member and boasts
great things. See how great a
forest a little fire kindles!” And
the tongue is a fire, a world of
iniquity.” What a picture! Little
tongue, great forest, and fire!
Now if that does not say a lot, I
don’t know what does.

Alex Colon
Pastor

For example: Think about
what an undisciplined tongue
can do in a home or even in a
church. Also 2 Timothy reminds
us of slandering, gossiping, and
rebellious and destructive sins
that often are agreed upon with
the tongue ending in destruction.
Third, we have the ability to delight in the Lord with
our tongues. By this I mean
what James said also, “with
it [tongue] we bless our God
and Father…” Out of the same
mouth proceed blessing and
cursing.” (James 3:9,10).
This one (out of many) passage shows the tongue’s capability of praising our Eternal
Father, encourage one another,
bless both God and man, or

curse God as well as man. As I
said, words are powerful. Our
tongues have the ability to bless
or curse. Which one do you
strive after?
Furthermore, it is important
to keep in mind the fact that as
we speak so we will see. In other
words, if death and life are in the
power of the tongue (and it is)
then that which we speak, either
providing death, or providing
God’s living power, will also
impact a life or a situation – any
situation.
In other words, if you curse
somebody (which a curse is
the empowerment to fail), you
will begin to see failure and ultimately destruction. On the other hand, if you bless somebody
(the empowerment to succeed),
speak positively, encouragement, and life to a situation; you
will see the change you expect.
Remember, your words carry what you believe. In other
words, your tongue delivers
what you expect, and settles it,
or establishes in the spirit world,
eventually materializing in the
natural world (Job 22:28). This
is too much to discuss in one
article, it’ll take a book to cover
such topic, and this is why in
our church we often talk about
the importance of speaking
right words, because your life
follows your words. Your words
are powerful!
Make it a Word Day!

of the Israelites would be
hanged on a certain day.
But, God caused that plan
to become un-noosed. Israel was preserved. The
enemies of Israel were not.
Read in the Bible about
the four major covenants
God has established with
Israel. The first one is the
Abrahamic Covenant, part
of which God promised
Abraham a perpetual line
of descendants through his
son, Isaac. The Palestinian
Covenant re-affirms God’s
promise to Israel for their
possession of land that
extends far beyond the parameters onto which Israel
holds today.
There is also the Davidic
Covenant, which stipulates the descendants of
David the perpetual right
to rule. Lastly, there is the
New Covenant, which was
ratified by the sacrifice of

Jesus Christ on the Cross.
It is the people of the
Church who by the grace
of God are permitted to
take part in the New Covenant.
If God would at any
point and in any way break
either of the stipulations
of these covenants, then
Israel would be destroyed.
But, we know God. He
does not break promises.
Again, through Jeremiah,
God stipulated to Israel,
“For I am with you, says
the Lord, to save you.
Though I make a full end
of all nations whither I
have scattered you, yet will
I not make a full end of you.”
Church, if you want to
truly be on God’s side, you
need to be on Israel’s side.
The Word of God — which
should be your sole source
of authority — makes it
clear.

A Hunger for More
Casually going to church
(just because it’s what we
do), carelessly attending a
Bible study (only because
we have a fun time doing
it), or even callously reading the words of the Scriptures for ourselves (so we
can say we got through
our “Through-the-Bible”
reading plan) all have a
way of instilling within us
a contempt for the things
of God.
Spiritual activities that
are done only because they
are chores to get out of
the way or are performed
because they are merely
duties will short-circuit
the benefit they could
have had for us had we
remained focused on the
goal of knowing God more
personally. Our eyes are
no longer on the goal of
knowing God, so the final
result of “bringing us to
Him” is lost to us and we
stall out on the religious
functions themselves. Not
only that, but such spiritual exercises done as an end
to themselves eventually
become burdensome to
us because they are nothing more than obligations
that we must keep up (and
if we were convinced that
no one around us would
notice we would give up
in order to easily pursue
our own selfish goals and
ambitions).
There were times in
the days of Jesus’ earthly
ministry that He encountered individuals (and
groups of individuals)
who thought that they had
learned all there was to
know about God and had
surmised that the entire
point of their religion was
to achieve a special recognition from God (for their
good works) or at least
from other people (who
weren’t quite as “good”
as they were). These religious people had endlessly discussed, debated,
and dissected the ancient
Scriptures (the words of
the Law, the Psalms, and
the Prophets) and had effectively “killed it” in the
sense of their ability to
see it as a living and loving expression of the living and loving God Who
had sent it to them.
So when Jesus varied from the traditional
teaching methods common to the rabbinical
tradition of His day, folks
would take note. Some
were spurred on by His
intriguing stories and
find within themselves
a strange and wonderful
delight for the things of
God. Others were quagmired, puzzled perhaps,
by words that were more
than mere rhetoric designed to make a man
look smart, but were
word pictures granting
glimpses of the halls of
heaven itself.
“When His disciples
asked Him what this parable meant (the parable
of the soils), He said, ‘To

Thom Mollohan
Pastor

you it has been given to
know the secrets of the
kingdom of God, but
for others they are in
parables, so that ‘seeing
they may not see, and
hearing they may not understand’” (Luke 8:9-10
ESV).
People’s lack of understanding was not the
result of Jesus’ speaking
with a vocabulary that
was too sophisticated
for them to comprehend,
nor was it the aftermath
of His talking with an
esoteric flair that was
beyond their ability to
understand. The problem
was that they preferred
to “change the subject”
from their own personal
accountability to a living, personal God to a
haggling over various interpretations of ancient
texts. And if they could
keep God at such a safe
distance then they temporarily enjoy the satisfaction of achieving a sense
of superiority over the
religiously unenlightened
as they associated with
like-minded spiritual elitists.
It cannot be denied that
Jesus’ teachings were intended to be provocative.
First of all, they were deliberately designed to stir
the hearts of anyone who
truly yearned to know
more. But, at the same
time, they were also arrows aimed at unsettling
those who like to think,
“Things between God
and me are cool” or “I’ve
got such a great handle on
the Bible that I pretty well
know what it’s all about”.
For these, the spiritual
“nerve endings” within
their souls had become
deadened (unresponsive)
to the spiritual electricity
flowing from its pages just
as the meaning of the parables Jesus taught seemed
pointless or silly.
But although they were
provocative, His teachings
were plain and straight
forward to those who
wanted to know God and
experience a personal relationship with Him. The
doctrinal disputes of the
Pharisees and Sadducees
of the first century were
confounding to regular
folks and stood in sharp
contrast with the simple
parables of Jesus… simple
although they were incredibly profound flashes of di-

vine inspiration. Children
could receive them; poor
and uneducated people
could receive them; even
the rich and well-learned
could receive them if
they humbled themselves
enough to admit Jesus’
lordship.
Today, just as in Jesus’
day, only those who are
truly hungry for God will
pursue the meaning behind the parables that He
taught. Only those who
are sincerely seeking Him
will find their eyes opened
to the glimpses of Eternal Order instituted by
our Maker. Only to these
who are humbly pursuing
Him will He grant visions
of His will and ways. You
and I are not immune,
of course, to becoming
deafened to His voice as
He speaks. Anytime we
proudly presume against
Him, harbor hidden hatreds towards others, or
tolerate unholy attitudes,
we forfeit the prize of a
sense of the immediacy of
His presence and His Holy
Spirit’s activity within us
and through us. In other
words, the moment that
we declare (either openly
or subconsciously through
selfish decisions) that we
do not need His work in
us, we will find that we
cannot find Him. We will
not be able to hear His
voice. We will not be capable of understanding
His truth. We will not recognize His face when He
comes.
So let us be on guard
then, with His help, to
remember to seek Him
first. Let us not forget
that spiritual activities are
grand and wonderful only
if we use them as a tool to
keep us close to His side
and in tune with His will.
Go to church! Join a Bible
study! Read the Word!
Pray! Give! Fast! Serve!
But don’t forget that the
Great Commandment is
that “You shall love the
Lord your God with all
your heart and with all
your soul and with all your
mind” and that the second
is like it, “Love your neighbor as yourself”. Everything else flows from these
two things (see Matthew
22:37-40).
Everything
else is only the means
and method of expressing
those first two. So if you
want to know the secrets
of God and you desire to
experience the blessings
of God, then seek God first
and foremost and let Him
have His way in your life;
He’ll take care of the rest
(see Matthew 6:33).

49-0 at WHS.
Current head-to-head streak: Wahama has won 3 straight.
WHS Offense Last Week: 243 rushing yards, 143 passing yards.
FHHS Offense Last Game: 241
rushing yards, 78 passing yards.
WHS Offensive Leaders Last Week:

TDs).
WHS Defense Last Week: 72 rush-

ing yards, 216 passing yards.
FHHS Defense Last Game: 121
rushing yards, 0 passing yards.
Notes: The last of the league unbeatens square off this weekend in
a pivotal TVC Hocking matchup in
Athens County. Wahama — which is
a perfect 21-0 in TVC Hocking play
since joining in 2010 — puts a 27game regular season winning streak
on the line against a Lancers’ squad
that has won five straight contests.
The White Falcons have outscored
opponents by a 253-88 overall margin
this fall, while Fed Hock is outscoring
opponents by a 161-56 margin. The
Lancers’ only loss this season was a
Week 1 setback to visiting Alexander
by a 22-21 count. FHHS last beat Wahama on September 2, 2006 by a 14-7
count in Stewart.
Point Pleasant Big Blacks (4-1)
at Oak Hill Red Devils (4-1)
Last Week: Point Pleasant lost 34-

33 vs. Brooke; Oak Hill 20-0 win vs.
Shady Spring.

OHHS Offense Last Game: 391
rushing yards, 19 passing yards.
PPHS Offensive Leaders Last
Week: RB Tylun Barnitz (76 yds, TD),
QB Aden Yates (10-16-188, 2TDs,
INT), WR Anthony Perry (2-82).
OHHS Offensive Leaders Last
Week: RB Jalen Jones (26-236, 2TDs),
QB Deon Marion (1-4-19), WR Ray
Sullivan (1-19).
PPHS Defense Last Week: N/A.
OHHS Defense Last Game: 63
rushing yards, 113 passing yards.
Notes: Two teams in the middle of
their first season at the Class AAA level, both Oak Hill and Point Pleasant
were moved up from AA competition
at the beginning of this year. The Big

Blacks had a 15-game regular season
winning streak snapped last week by
Brooke on Homecoming. Point is outscoring opponents by a 162-62 overal
margin this fall and the Big Blacks are
a perfect 3-0 in road games this fall.
The Red Devils have won four straight
contests after dropping a 43-36 decision to Elkins in the season opener.
Oak Hill has posted a pair of shutouts
in its last two wins and has scored
36-or-more points in 4-of-5 contests.
OHHS running back Jalen Jones has
1,065 yards on 96 carries this season
to go along with 14 touchdowns.
Hannan Wildcats (1-4) at
Manchester Greyhounds (0-6)
Last Week: Hannan lost 33-0 vs.
Tug Valley; Manchester lost 70-22 at
Portsmouth Notre Dame.
Last Meeting: 2011, Hannan won
26-14 at HHS.
Current head-to-head streak: Han-

nan has won 1 straight.
Notes: Losing streak are on the
line this Friday night when Hannan
and Manchester meet up in a Week
7 non-conference matchup in Adams County. After scoring 22 points
in each of their first two contests,
the Wildcats have mustered only six
points in their last three games —
which includes back-to-back shutout
losses. HHS is being outscored 50163 overall this fall and is currently
in a three-game losing skid. The
Greyhounds, on the other hand, enter Friday with an 18-game losing
streak — dating back to a 14-7 win
at Fayetteville in Week 8 of 2010.
Manchester has a combined 1-45
record since starting the program in
2008, and the Greyhounds have never won a varsity home game. MHS is
being outscored by a 40-292 overall
margin this fall.

Notes: Both of these
TVC Hocking teams have
been rolling of late. Trimble has won four straight
games with an average
margin of victory of 51.25,
while Eastern has won
three games in a row with

CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — Almost. But
there is a silver lining.
The Gallia Academy golf team was just
two shots away from a return trip to the
state meet, but the Blue Devils will still be
represented at the Scarlet Golf Course next
weekend following Wednesday’s Division II
District Championships at Pickaway Country Club.
GAHS senior Rob Canady was one of
two golfers to earn an individual spot in
the Division II state finals next Friday and
Saturday at Ohio State University, as he
and Chesapeake’s Nick Duffield earned comedalist honors with matching 6-over par
efforts of 77.
Andrew Harley of New Lexington won
district medalist honors with a 76 and is
also headed to state as an individual qualifier.
As a team, the Blue Devils finished in a
tie with Fairfield Union — as both squads
posted identical scores of 331. Gallia Academy had a better score from its fifth score
to win the tiebreaker for the three-spot.
GAHS — which shot a 322 last year on
this same course while earning district runner-up honors — finished one shot back of
second place Chesapeake (330) and three
strokes off the pace set by repeat champion
Unioto (328). Both the Shermans and the
Panthers advanced to the state championship as teams.
Canady will be making his second
straight appearance at the D-2 state tournament and has one week left in the season.
For the rest of the area golfers, however,
the campaign has come to an end.
Senior Brady Curry followed Canady
with a round of 80, followed by Dares Hamid with an 86 and Sean Saltzgaber with
an 88. Bruce Moreaux served as the winning tiebreaker with an effort of 93. GAHS
had four birdies total on the day — three
from Canady and one from Curry.
Meigs senior Treay McKinney capped
his prep career with a round of 87, while
River Valley freshman Logan Sheets carded
a 96 in his first district postseason. Neither
the Raiders nor the Marauders had a district qualifier in golf since the 2007 season.
Craig Jagers was the last golfer at RVHS to
accomplish that feat, while Steven Stewart
did the same for MHS.
Sam Calvin led Unioto with a 79, followed by Colton Forcum and Caleb Cushin
with respective efforts of 80 and 84. Trent
Huston clinched the district team title with
an 85.
After Duffield, the Panthers received
matching 84s from Shane Stevens and
Drew Oxley. Eric Sias completed the team
tally with an 85, while Seth Waggoner added an 86 for the runners-up.
Fairfield Union was led by Devin Munyan with an 80, followed by respective
efforts of 81 and 83 from Caleb Herd and
Jordan Barr. Colin Jessup fired an 87 to
complete the team scoring, but a 94 from
Steven Noble ultimately allowed GAHS to
clinch third place.
Sheridan (340), Miami Trace (340) and
Washington Court House (340) finished
five through seven, while Hillsboro claimed
the eight-spot with a 358 team score. Portsmouth (361) won the tiebreaker against
Jackson (361) for the ninth position in the
10-team field.
In Division III district championship on
Tuesday, South Gallia junior Gus Slone had
his season come to an end after carding an
86 at Cumberland Trail in Pataskala. Slone
is the first Rebel golfer to ever compete at
the district tournament.
Columbus Academy won the D-3 team
title by tiebreaker, as it and Wellington
both finished the day with matching scores
of 309. Tree of Life (319) and Sugarcreek
Garaway (321) also advanced to state as
teams.
Cameron Michalak of Grove City Christian (73), Jeg Coughlin of Village Academy
(74), Brent Morgan of Coal Grove (76) and
Branden Offenberger of Waterford (77)
were the four individual state qualifiers.
Michalak and Mark David Wright of Tree
of Life shared medalist honors at the D-3
district event.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY for Friday, Oct.
5, 2012:
This year you could develop a more
reserved attitude about your finances.
You might feel as if you have restricted
yourself in many ways in the past
year. Now, you will choose to walk
through a new door and establish a
fresh outlook. You also will think a lot
about what you offer. If you are single,
a dashing, unique person rushes into
your life. Proceed with caution, as this
person might be withholding important
information. If you are attached, the
two of you benefit from you lightening
up and deciding to enjoy yourself more
than ever. Know that you are carrying
a lucky rabbit’s foot this year. GEMINI
does talk a lot, but at least he or she is
interesting.
The Stars Show the Kind of Day
You’ll Have: 5-Dynamic; 4-Positive;
3-Average; 2-So-so; 1-Difficult
ARIES (March 21-April 19)
HHHH Listen to others, especially
an associate, partner or loved one who
might be having strong feelings about a
financial matter. Understand where this
person might be coming from. You will
see a key relationship lighten up in the
next few months. Tonight: Speak your
mind.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20)
HHHH Deal with a transforming
money situation quickly and efficiently.
In the next few months, you could
discover that a partner is closing down
or coming off as cold. Be sensitive yet
aware that there is a gap that needs to
be bridged. Tonight: Pay your bills.
GEMINI (May 21-June 20)
HHHH If something is going wrong
and you are not as confident as usual,
do not worry. You are entering a period
of reflection, and this will allow you to
understand someone better. Remain
even and steady in dealing with people
in general. Tonight: Beam in what you
want.
CANCER (June 21-July 22)
HHH Listen to news carefully, and
know that you could be overreacting
at this point. Try not to wonder what is
going on so much. Know when to pull
back, as there could be many other
perspectives. Give a child or loved one
some space for now. Tonight: Play it
low-key.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22)
HHHH You might zero in on what
you want only to discover today or
shortly thereafter that you don’t really
want it. You have unusual vigor, yet you
are able to let go of a situation quickly.
A family member could become more
touchy than usual. Unfortunately, this
attitude could be the beginning of a

trend. Tonight: Speak your mind.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
HHH Take a chance, and know your
limitations. Conversations could become
more difficult in the next few months. A
boss might have made — or will make
— a promise that could take a while to
fulfill. Do not be impatient ... just hang in
there. Tonight: In the limelight.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)
HHHH Intellectualize, but if you
experience a strong reaction, detach
rather than talk yourself down. You will
gain a whole new perspective that could
surprise you. You never thought you
would come to this position. Use care
with funds, now and in the near future.
Tonight: Go for a movie or a different
escape.
SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
HHHHH Deal with a partner or
associate directly. This person is generally very open, but he or she might
be slow to decide in your favor. Learn
patience and understanding. A child or
potential loved one definitely has rosecolored shades on when it comes to
you. Tonight: Follow your feelings.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)
HHHH Defer to others, especially
if you are unsure of which way to go.
A cocky partner or associate could
change his or her mind. Be understanding rather than combative. Sometimes
you throw these types of situations
back in this person’s face. What is the
purpose, other than to be right? Tonight:
Respond to someone’s efforts,
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
HHHHH You communicate with
accuracy and clarity. Your serious tone
gives others a lot to digest. In-depth
responses might take a while to
emerge, as people have a lot to think
about. Now wait for the results. Tonight:
Off to the gym.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
HHHH Your need to understand
what is happening is instrumental to
finding a creative solution. In a diplomatic manner, ask as many questions
as need be. You could be surprised by
what comes up. A child or new friend
adds welcome levity. Tonight: Your turn
to show some cheerfulness.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20)
HHH Remain sure of yourself, and
air out others’ ideas with care. You
might be filtering out some important
facts and ideas. Open up to new possibilities, as in the long run, you will
have no choice. You might be more
comfortable with the tried and true. Is
it still effective? Tonight: Chat with a
roommate or family member.

Notes: Two teams headed in opposite directions

Week 7 SEOAL matchup
at Memorial Field. The
host Blue Devils bring
a three-game winning
streak into Homecoming this weekend, while
the Trojans have dropped
four straight. GAHS currently sits fifth in the Division III, Region 12 playoff ratings — and a win
would only enhance their

position for the postseason. The Blue Devils
— who have outscored
opponents by a 195-101
overall margin — would
also remain atop the SEOAL standings with a victory. GAHS has allowed
14 points or less in its last
four outings. The Trojans
are being outscored 119233 this fall and have also
allowed at least 34 points
in all five of their losses.
Portsmouth’s lone win
came in Week 2 at Portsmouth West by a 21-18
count. PHS is also 1-3 on
the road, while the Blue
Devils are 2-1 at Memorial Field.

Week: 168 rushing yards,
163 passing yards.
VCHS Defense Last
Game: 233 rushing yards,
40 passing yards.
Notes: Both TVC Ohio
teams come in on multiple
game losing streaks; looking for their first league
win of the year. Meigs has
lost three straight games
by an average margin of
37.7, while the Vikings
have lost two in a row by
an average margin 17.5
points. VCHS holds a 6-4
advantage over Meigs in
the last 10 seasons. Both
teams come in claiming
one win on the season,
both were against an Ohio
Valley Conference team.
Both Vinton County and
Meigs have finished under .500 in the same season just two times in the
last 10 years.

ago. Southern averaged just
under two yards a carry
last week, while Miller averaged 3.2 yards per carry.
The Falcons have been outscored 268-72 this season,
